The Creative Entrepreneur Trap
I see you, Creative Entrepreneur. I see all your delicious creative ideas and your fabulous business and your crafty products. You’re a true leader and you are getting about the business of …leading. Your dreams are set to change the world.
However, unbeknownst to you, I also see the dark side.
…burning the midnight oil
…foregoing playtime with your kids to get one more thing done
…trying to ignore the desperate feeling from working so.much. but having so.little. to show for it
…spending your last dollar for yet another home study course that might sit on your computer with the rest of them
…the endless promises (or maybe they have stopped by now) to yourself, your kids, your family that you won’t keep working this much, that it’s GOING to pay off…
So I need to be straight with you.
This might hurt a little, but you already know it.
This madness has GOT to STOP!
Not your amazing creative genius pouring into the world, but this madness of working and working and WORKING, with no thought of your personal well-being.
It leads to overwhelm (can I get a whoop whoop?!) and burnout – but it doesn’t have to be that way.Overwhelm is not a life sentence - you can leave any time you want. Click To Tweet
Sure, your business is important, and yes, I get it, you’ve GOT to make money so you can live.
You have GOT to push away from the computer and take care of yourself. Your very life depends on it! #sittingisthenewsmoking
I love, love, LOVE that you are a go-getter, a hard worker, and someone who has such a magnificent dream that is going to bring the world what we need and change it in a HUGE way! I so LOVE that about you.
If you don’t start noticing YOUR needs and taking the time to nourish your OWN self, you won’t be ABLE to serve ANYBODY! #cryingshame
I know what it’s like to work a J-O-B knowing you are building someone else’s dream but will NEVER significantly raise your income.
I know what it’s like to be undervalued and overworked.
I know what it’s like to have that burning in your belly where you KNOW you could make it on your own, if you were just given a chance.
I know what it’s like to keep going, and keep going, and keep going, when the money isn’t coming in but you are SO SURE that this is going to work.
And it sucks.
Every time I have gotten caught in the desperate mindset, the one which makes me believe I need to just work harder to MAKE things happen, and THEN I’ll be happy…
…Every single time I have spiraled down instead of risen above.
I have learned that to truly be successful, I have to do the thing that doesn’t make sense to my A+ Go-Getter Business Girl Change The World Personality…I have to go to my happy place.
Happiness is my medicine.
If I don’t get a healthy dose of it every day, I will head toward disease.
And yet, strangely, this flies in the face of everything I thought I knew about running a business.
Oh sure, I knew that we really should take vacations at least yearly to recharge (hadn’t been on a vaca for 15 years at one point in my life!).
And I knew it was important to set aside time to be with my darling children (somehow that time all too often included me doing “one more thing” on the computer, and never fully engaging with them).
What I didn’t know was that it was possible to create happy places all throughout my day. And not only would that revolutionize my business, it would revolutionize my health!Success doesn’t create happiness; happiness creates success. Click To Tweet
So I can hear you wondering aloud how in the world are you going to fit in ANOTHER must-have in your business? You’re already full to the gills with stuff to do to build your empire.
I know, I know. I was confused at first, too.
This is such a shift in thinking that it might feel like you’ve got more to do.
That’s where I come in.
In order to implement happiness and relaxed creativity into your life, you’ve got to pull away from the rat race (yeah, even home business owners submit themselves to the rat race!!). So how is your business going to run, now that you’re spending LESS time on/in it??
Or….? Here’s a thought…
Implement automated traffic systems into your business so it can run on its own, with less need for you to be there holding its hand.
Do you believe that’s possible?
This doesn’t mean that your home biz can’t still be your baby; it will be. But what it DOES mean is that your baby will start to take naps on schedule so you can catch your breath. Your sweet baboo will learn to feed itself so you can enjoy your meals, too.
Automated traffic is what all the big players have been using for YEARS. This is what’s going to give you permission to move away from being a child-centered mom…err, entrepreneur, to a powerful, confident, intentional empire builder.
Your baby will thank you. <3
To get your feet wet, join me here to start getting some traffic heading over to your business. I love this stuff. 🙂
